But more than the characteristics, the main point of this device,as followers of this blog sure also knows, is the philosophy and how it has been created, Qi Hardware is a community of entities (companies, universities, individials...) that has the objective to produce 100% free (as freedom) hardware, what we call copyleft hardware, at all levels including freeing the production processes to make able to clone or derivate the hardware and produce it with no more license cost than fulfill the Creative Commons license CCBySA.
I don't want to create false expectations either, software on the device is in very early stages a linux distribution in console mode, so all those don't willing to put their hands dirty to make the best on this little jewel please refrain, but don't be afraid either :), all those who already have one (20 arround the world counting prototipes and little Frankensteins made from spare parts) are working harder to improve it and include graphic menu, free content and more applications on the base distribution based on OpenWRT. With a little love you(if I was able to do it anybody can, really) can transform that naked console in this (demo videos from my own NanoNote):
There is also people working in alternative distributions like Jlime or totally different OS like Iris
So I encourage anyone who wants to become part of the Qi Hardware project and support the copyleft hardware, to any one than wants to hack and be involved at any level, from hardware, software development to production and marketing processes, join us either participating on the mailing list, creating content or translating content on the wiki, making diffusion on the project or buying the first device, from more to come, born from this initative the 本 Ben NanoNote.
